Nice knife. I would love to get one of those after I spring for a canoe or whittler model.

That's identical to mine. It has become my primary outdoor knife. Very nice pics as well...Jim

caine: sweet knife Ive had 3 of them , Ive sold them just to end up buying another, just cant seem to part with the Wilderness model, even after using Busse, Strider,Bark River and a dozen more this seems to be the best camp knife for me.............

I don't suppose anyone has both this knife and Dozier's Professional Guide Knife and could do a comparison for me? I've been looking a lot at the PGK on the AG Russell site, but haven't bit the bullet yet.

Thanks,

Walter

if you do a search a on the forums you will find some talk about the 2 in comparison, Ive had both, used both, the PGK outcuts the wilderness but not by much, I just like the overall feel and thickness of the wilderness....the best thing to do is try out both of them if possible, you could always sell off the one you dont want.....goodluck
just found a side by side pic of the 2 together....go to custom knife forums and look in the theard started by SANTI

Very nice. This and the PGK have been tempting me for some time. Nice sheath also. I think Dozier does not get nearly enough credit for his sheaths.

Please post more after you use it some. I have been wanting one for a long time, I'd like to hear your comments onit. The shape and size seem like the perfect mid size field knife.

The wilderness model is very nice, I think you'll very much enjoy using it. Most of my doziers have been sitting so seeing yours prompts me to go out and play with em. Great pics.

caine, also, VERY nice pelican case. pelican cases are as tough as your favorite toughest knife. for me, its benchmade

Landar15,
Yeah, I have one of each. They both cut like the blazes but the Wilderness is heavier and came with one of the sharpest blades of all my Doziers. For just general hikeing around and camping the PGK will more then suit you but if you plan on being out for some time and depending on your knife to do a lot of work then that is just what it was made for. Steven Dick, the editor of Tactical Knives asked Bob Dozier to make the Wilderness knife just in case he had to spend some extened time out in the woods "surviving". Oh, yeah, the Wilderness knife is a little bit longer too so it is easier to snap cut branches and it is also sharpened at a blunter angle then most of Doziers knives are just so it will take a little more punishment.

FWIW
Ciao 4 now
Ron

I also had a Wilderness that was sharper than either my PGK or K1. Bob out did himself when he ground that edge.....

Thanks Ron. I tried searching but didn't see a real head-to-head comparison-looks like I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one soon!

Walter

caine: your thread inspired me to order another wilderness, this one has green canvas micarta handles and just a tad bit more belly on it........
will post pics as soon as I figure out how!!!!
