Did anyone else receive their new wood inlay sebenza today? I can't beleive how awesome this thing looks. Mine is the large one and has California buckeye. The wood color is incredible. Swirls of greys, tans, and browns. I also had a dual thumb stud and swedge cut into it. I really need to get a scanner. This knife deserves to be shown. I wrote CR knives with my thanks. Even my wife can't believe how nice it looks. The new polished screws really inhance the looks of the knife. If any of you who don't own one of these gets a chance, by all means order one. Not only are these knives a work of art, but very tuff to boot. You can't go wrong with a Sebenza in your pocket! Thanks again to the people at Chris Reeve knives.

No, I didn't receive my wood inlay Sebenza today!!!!! @#$^%#*@$!!! I have to wait until August or September!! How did you manage to get yours so quickly? When did you order it?
By all means, try to scan it so we can all drool over it.

Bill

just a question -- are you going to use the wood inlay sebenza, or is this one for collection?

That would be my dilemma -- use or no...

Beleive me, I've been waiting some time to get my 2000 wood inlayed sebbie. Maybe sometime next week I'll go out and get a cheap scanner. And to answer your question Clay. Yes, I bought this to be my carry knife. I have every confidence in the Sebenza, as I've been carrying a small decorated one the last year. I just wanted the bigger one for easier skinning and gutting tasks. This is one of the reasons I got the swedge. Better penatration; and it looks real cool too! I feel the bigger knife will allow me to preform larger cutting tasks in the field as well as at home. It is a real pretty knife. But who ever said a looks are everything!

As long as you take care of the wood inlay knives, they'll take care of you. People have gotten blood, mud, fish guts, salt water, and God knows what else on them, and I have never heard of one having a problem. "Knock on Wood",(pun intended).

K-Guy, well, I had a similar experience, just got my wood inlay Small Sebenza, box elder wood, beautiful!, and it has the bronze coloured Pin Stripe Devin Thomas Damascus blade, the scan doesn't do the blade justice, as the blade is mirror polished and is very very nice, too nice to use! So I'm in a quandary.....one person I contacted, I asked if he used his Damascus Sebenzas, and he replied that just for opening the mail, Firstclass mail only, the other stuff is too gritty,

, thought that was pretty neat answer.

I really love the wood inlay, and highly recommend it to everyone, it lightens the knife up and at the same time fills the hand a little more. But man, I can't afford another one for a user!!!

Very nice knife Gary. I am afraid my first inlay will not be a user. I have a large coming with the bronzed, raindrop Damascus. I don't have many shelf sitters, but this will definitely be one. Have every intention of saving my pennies though to purchase a small with the BG-42 for everyday use.

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

Nice knife Gary. Travis is a good guy. I don't think I would use one with a colored damascus blade. I think CR Knives says that the color is only for show. I wish they would start making the sebenza with stainless damascus by Devin Thomas or Mike Norris. Then we wouldn't have to worry about using them. Mine has BG-42 which I'm glad about. Because of the makeup, I feel this steel is fare superior to ATS-34 and 154-CM. A lot of makers do as well.

Gary; you did indeed get a nice looking, albeit rather plain, knife.

I wouldn't hesitate to use it on junk mail as well as first class mail!

Seriously, it is a gorgeous knife, and I am sure you are happy with it. You can stop e-mailing me extolling its' virtues now, OK?

Concerning the use of colored Damascus. I have avoided purchasing a blued Damascus knife, as I know all too well the propensity of bluing on firearms to wear off VERY quickly. I don't know about the bronze on the bronze spirograph Damascus knife I got from NWC. Does anyone have any knowledge about its' durability (concerning first class mail as a worst case scenario)?

Thanks in advance, Walt

Thanks guys and Mr. Welch, and yes I'll stop those annoying emails to you

but it is nice isn't it?

The guys at work are very impressed with it, as they are not too surprised to see me with a new knife, but not one of this class, it really wowed them pretty good! Me too

Very keen edge, of course, trimmed some envelopes and some paper, this is the second knife I own that I probably won't bring myself to really use and I normally use all the ones I buy. The other is the Jess Horn jigged bone Spyderco, classy little folder as well.

I like the wood a lot on these knives and if I ever see a chance of getting a folder with BG42 blade and wood inlay at a price I can afford, you can bet I'll be the first person to go for it!

Well, I've been smitten for sure, and I must warn you if any of you talk on the phone with James Mattis, after a short talk to see if he received my money order for a Moki Umi fixed bladed knife, I just casually mentioned my damascus Sebenza with wood inlay and found myself getting a BG42 bladed wood inlay Sebenza from him......one to carry and use everyday......it truly never ends! I had to sell one of collection that I thought I'd never sell but the draw to this wood inlay was too strong. So within a week or so I'll have the BG42 companion folder to the damascus one you see above, it will also have the Box Elder wood, which is beautiful.

So my warning to all of you, beware the ides of June? or words to that affect!

I just got a call from Bridgett today, saying that my new wood inlay Sebenza was ready to ship, UPS and I would receive it on Friday. I was very happily surprized since I wasn't expecting it for another 2-1/2 months.
The only problem...we're leaving on vacation in 2 days and I won't be there when it arrives. When I told Bridgett, she said she would change it to 2nd day air at no additional charge, but I didn't want to risk missing the shipment that was going to arrive on the day I was leaving so I asked her if she would mind shipping it so it will arrive on the 30th when I get back home. Bridgett said no problem. She even wanted to credit my credit card since it wasn't going to ship for 2 weeks.
Just more proof of the great customer service that CRK provides its' cusomers.
Now I can't wait till my vacation is over!
By the way, it is a redwood burl inlay.

Bill

Uh....Bill you could have it shipped to my house for those two weeks if you want...

Congrats on your new arrival!

I have decided that I absolutely need a small wood-inlay Sebbie, but my wife and wallet are not so convinced... Enjoy it, and cut up a lot of stuff with it.

I'm SOOOOOOO jealous. Those wood inlay Sebenzas are "da kine". Does anyone know if CRK will make the Sebenza like the old style, WITHOUT the scallops around the lock/choil?
