I'm waiting on belts to get into any grinding. Today I cleaned up the front of the handle scales. I have them at 400 grit now. I won't angle the fronts back untill the knife grinds are complete. That way if I need to adjust them I can.

Gotta get some tunes going to keep pace :)

I'm also needing to complete a sheath this weekend.

Here the leather is cut oversize. The black pen is what I need to remove.

Sheath is right width now.

I'll finish up sheath tomorrow.

Also I am a tad dirty when I work! Take a look. This is collected over the last 4 months.

When I make a sheath, I always over cut it so that when I'm done stitching, I can actually use a bench grinder with an old rough stone to "grind" away the excess leather. Leaves it with a nice look an gives me perfect edges. Do you do the same or try to cut it perfectly the first time?

I'll try and get it about an 1/8" to 1/16" right before stiching. Glue the welt to the front so I can glue it tighter if needed. The grind off the excess :)

That pretty cool, Brian. Do you recess the beltloop stitch on the inside of the sheath. I use a stitch groover then rub beeswax into it and slick it down with a spoon. You couldn't cut them if you tried.

Messy shop?...... You and me both, brother....

I dont recess the belt loop stitch. I like it unrecessed because it gives the leather sheath a "Click In" feel similar to kydex. I have yet had any of the stitching wear through. It normally smooths itself out and by that time the sheath has a natural fit to the knife.
