New York custom knife show VS East coast custom knife show.

Hey guys,

I have been to the ECCKS but not to the NYCKS. I was wondering which one is bigger? And if you could only attend one, which one would you pick and why?

Thanks a lot.

I think the ECCKS is bigger than the NYCKS (at least the showroom looks bigger), but I like the latter better because there are more "using" knives on display. The ECCKS caters more to the high-end, embellished cutlery aficionados. The makers that I like attend the NYCKS, but not the ECCKS.

I agree with Greg & for the same reasons. Although some of my favorite makers exhibit at both shows, I have found more affordable goodies at the NYCKS. Six days & counting.

The '98 NYCKS was the first show I went to, and I got to meet Ed Fowler among a lot of others, so it stands out in my mind. Each show I go to there are more and more folks that I know so that's fun. This one should be real special. I am plannong my vacation this year around the Blade Show, that will be my only chance all year to see just about everyone. Honestly, any chance I get to handle knives and meet the makers is great.

PhilL, bad news. I got an email from Ed and Angie Fowler a few days ago saying they're not coming. He's got too much farm work and no knives to put on table right now.

bummer. On the other hand, Ron Appleton will be there with a knife that is a collaboration between Ed Fowler and him. Ed made the blade and Ron made the rest.
Oh yeah, I'll wait outside for ya PhilL

Lifter, I ain't sweating you, you're still going to have to get past Donna.....ahhhh....right Donna?

Both shows are marked in red in my calendar as religious holidays... I like them both- but I'll agree to the above that the NYCCKS has more of the higher-end stuff.

Fowler/Appleton collaboration? wow...
