i love using pocket knives for practical everyday use as much as i love collecting them... i'm new new in new york and i also wanted to know if i can carry a 3-inch knife in my pocket...need some advice

Well, depends where in NY. There are the NY state laws, but certain places have their own, more restrictive laws. For 2 examples, NYC and City of Yonkers.

Generally, all over the state, autos, daggers, and "gravity" knives are out.

It can get pretty technical. But, a regular 3 inch slipjoint knife as far as I know you can carry in your pocket almost anywhere in NY state.

Did you contact the local Police authorities.......that would be the best source for accurate info.

three inch as long as not a gravity or switchblade is legal, anywhere in NY....NYC says must be under 4"

Ok, i've been searching on the internet for hours. . .and i can't find anything about restrictions for shipping swords and daggers through the mail. I live near buffalo, and I am wondering if anyone has any idea if there are laws against recieving properly packaged swords from a company over the internet. If anyone has any info, could you please help out? Thanks. . .:D

If I can differ - I have found, in certain places, including places in NYS, that this is not the way to the best info.

Generally the best info will come from an expert on the law in that locale, and that person is generally a good lawyer.

Do a search please. this topic comes up at least once a month and is discussed all the time.

There are no NYS laws against them....Check NEW YORK STATE Penal Law section 265
