So I have seen literally not a peep on NYKM (New York Knife Maker) here on the forums. I even used the search bar and got no results. So I figured I'd come here and show off two of my pieces I have from him. This first one is the more recent, I call it The Ice King! I'm sure you'll see why...

Thats a super thick dual hollow ground piece of D2 steel heat treated by Peter's to 60-61 HRC clad with White Pearl Kirinite handles over blue G10 liners. Definitely a big fan of this bad boy!

And that's the first one he made me, a modified sheepsfoot blade with his "signature" grind, a chisel hollow grind with a zero edge (more accurately a bit of a micro bevel now that I've sharpened it) rocking some toxic green Kirinite. This one is a bit thinner but longer overall and in 154CM steel. I actually did a review of it here:

Anyone else out there have any work by my buddy Ryan? I really like these two knives and I figured I'd either spread the good word about a maker to watch or hear about other peoples' experiences with him.

I would love to get one of Ryan's knives, he's an awesome dude. I really like his vids and outlook on knife making. Congrats on two fine knives. :D

Who is the knifemaker? I know there are a few others in NY but can't really remember names. Dan Farr maybe? I am a collector from NY. Good to see others.

His name is Ryan Carlson, but he goes by the moniker "New York Knife Maker" or NYKM, hence the etching.

Those knives look like Mike Snody designed them, but I don't think he would have put that ugly ass green material on one of his knives.:D:barf::D

He for sure would never have used chain ring bolts as anchors for scale material.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Ryan actually learned pretty much everything he knows from Snody and he's his biggest inspiration so there's a reason for that.
