I'm planning to attend the New York Knife Show in a few weeks having never done so. Any feedback from those who have attended this show in past years? Do they usually have a good number of custom knife makers, etc. Thanks....Jim

Yeah, but isn't the hotel in Times Square? Outside the exclusive enclave of the suave, urbane Manhattanites and where the tacky tourists and outer borough barbarians run amuck? lol;)

Your right Joe and not my favorite place, I've gotten used to the peace, quiet and total darkness of night out here in the Missouri Ozarks. My driveway is almost a mile long :D

The only time I will ever be caught dead outside of my usual SOHO & L.E.S haunts
absolutely worth every ounce of culture shock

I was up there for New Years. The fist two days, i stayed at the Doubletree Metropolitan on 51st and Lex and only ventured north. Shopping, museums, Rockefeller Center, Radio City and two Gov't Mule shows at the Beacon. It was marvelous. The Beacon was right around the corner from where my grandfather lived and worked as an architect for two years in 1921-22 after he got back from France after WW1 and some time studying at the Sorbonne. Kinda cool to think about that. Even did the "Way Too Freakin Expensive dinner" at 21 with my "way too young for me female travel companion". lol Had a marvelous time. The last two nights, I was at the Marquis. Okay IF you stay in the hotel, but outside was bedlam. I did venture down to the Little Italy area to have a pizza at Lombardi's with an old school chum that I hadn't seen in 25 years or so. That was f

I'll be there and looking forward to it. First time for me.

When does the line to get in start forming?

I was at the Las Vegas show last year in February and it took me a long time just to make it in through the front door. I really hope this show is better organized than that.

Thanks for the input. Hope to see many of you there and make a lot of new friends...Also, can't wait to see the knives....

This show is not nearly as big as Vegas. But the quality of the makers and their blades are as good as at any other show in the country. Line starts in the immediate lobby area where tickets are sold. Exhibitors are already setup at least an hour before show official opening. At that time, the lines are already forming. Unless you really know what you are wanting at the show, it isn' t absolutely necessary to be the first in line. Rememer, this is a 3 day show with Saturday traditionally being the most attended. Have fun all! And be sure to stop by the Dozier table to say hello. ;)
