New Zatoichi Movie

I watch this guy almost every Saturday morning on satelite. (yeah, lots of repeats, but they're cool).
I always wondered what happened to that guy, was he really any good and was he really blind.

His name was Shintaro Katsu and he was not blind. He died in 1997. You might like this link. I do because I realy like the movies he is in.
And I hope the new one does him justice! From the trailer of the new movie it looks like he is carring the new
Zatoichi II Damascus sword by Paul Chen.

I can't believe the blind swordsman is still around after all these years.

I really enjoyed the Zatoichi movies in my younger days. It is one of those things that got me interested in swords! :)

Check out the IFC, Independent Film Channel, they show his movies twice Saturday.
Even though I've seen each one about a dozen times now, I still watch them. They even offer the complete set (looks like about 6 to 8) movies, maybe on their web site.
He played his part quite well.

I just checked the schedule at IFC, it looks like they are playing the last of 19 movies of the series this weekend. then next weekend, it looks like they are starting the whole series over again. Epidode one, two, three and four are listed.
And Virgin/Amazon selld the movies.
I think I'll start taping them. Rather have 'em on DVD, but at $17 a pop, I'll tape 'em.

Maybe you can help me.
I posted somewhere else, that I own two old Japanese swords. I'd like to try to identify them and their worth. Any ideas? You seem to know something about swords.
