Hey folks, I'm new and came here for advice on a knife-related issue.
I ordered a Zero Tolerance 0350ST from KnifeCenter.com, and it just arrived this afternoon. I took it out for a quick look-over, decided it was possibly the awesomest knife I've seen (and I've owned more than two dozen Ken Onion/Kershaw blades) and clipped it in my pocket before I went out to dinner.
Arriving home two hours later, I took the knife out and, to my utter dismay, noticed that it had three or four gashes in the black DLC coating on the spine area. Evidently, the mere rubbing of my keys against the blade is enough to completely strip the black off.
I confirmed this by lightly rubbing one of my keys against the blade and, indeed, it completely removed the coating.
Now, I've owned several black/coated Kershaws before and NEVER saw anything like this. I'm just wondering, is this normal for the ZT line? As I'd been told, the ZT line was the toughest blade Kershaw had ever produced, yet my $40 Blackout never had a single issue like this.
I've already contacted ZT and requested they exchange this knife for one with proper coating. I just thought I'd come here to ask if you folks though I was being unreasonable.
Am I the only one who's experienced this with ZT knives?
Thanks!
BO
