New guy here - just got my new ZT 0562CF today. Got a few questions.

- It is stiff, I get it, it's new - it can be difficult to open sometimes
- When closing does the detent / lockbar catch a little at the 10% closing mark? Does not fall free until past that point.
- Does the pivot pin spin/move or is it stable at all times?

Thanks in advance!

Frist of all congrats on the new knife the 0562cf is a very good choice.
Difficulty opening could be that your putting pressure on the lock bar you my need to modify your grip.
also the pivot maybe to tight and could use some adjustment.
Yes the detent ball does catch on the lock bar when closing not a whole lot you can do maybe some oil on the detent ball.
I believe the pivot stays stationary and the blade rotates around it.
I have had some flippers knives out of box feel "gritty" a few drops of oil and some repeated flipping usually helps.
If your married your wife will usually let you when its done.
hope this helps.

OP - Make sure you are not applying pressure on the lockbar when flipping open the blade. Yes - that 10% travel is for the detent ball to get up to the blade face. The pivot tube should not spin.

If frame lock flippers are new to you, I suggest you not to disassemble or tweak the knife. The stiff action sounds most likely due to your flipping technique or lack thereof. And the knife will break in. You can add a drop of lube to the detent track.

Both my 0452CF and 0562CF were a PITA to open for the first couple days, like mentioned above, any pressure on the lockbar will make it hard to open.

They're both smooth as silk now though after some break-in time. The 562 drops shut, the 452 takes a shake or two.

Congrats on the new knife. The 562 is a good one.

Thanks for the info guys - it's starting to loosen up some and I'm paying attention keeping my fingers away from the lock bar when flipping. It is my first ZT and first frame lock, but have plenty other knives - Spyderco, Pro-Tech, Kershaw, the dreaded Benchmade, now a ZT, etc...

Great knife, and Congrats on your new purchase. The 0562 series are all great knives....in my experience they get smoother over time. And if you don’t want to disassemble the knife a couple drops of nano oil (or any kind of knife lube) will make it even smoother when applied to the bearing/ or the detent hole. I have 3 variants of the 0562s and they lock up very early but that’s not a bad thing. It just leaves more room to lockup after you start using the knife a lot.

I couldn’t resist the 562 either. It’s a beaut. Mine should arrive tomorrow and I expect the action will be smoothing out and my wife will be at wits end by bedtime.

I fully expect this knife to be a gateway to that Hinderer that’s been an object of my desire for years.

I am really impressed by this ZT!

The pivot allows for smooth and easy opening. The detent is very secure when closed but doesn’t hinder :)rolleyes:) opening or closing. The blade falls nicely after releasing the lock and the flipper tab stops against my thumb. This is usually just past the detent but if it stops on the detent, a little jiggle moves the blade past the detent followed by a smooth falling close. Great function follows Great fit and finish. Oh, and perfect grind to an extremely sharp edge.

Also kudos to the inspector at DLT - thanks

ZT knows how to mass produce a knife - especially Hinderers. That's why I have more ZTs than any other brand in my collection.

All perfect specimens. Just wish they'd give the 0566 knives a re-do with bearings and nix the assist..
