Well, I received an offer on New Year's eve from L.A. Police gear. So, this ZT-9 was a must have.

The knife is very nice and wickedly tough. I believe it will be with me for life. The blade is very thick and looks like it could cut down a tree.

Very happy with my purchase.

Great knife if you're not paying too much.

OMG that looks so bad ass. Strider and ZT look like they hit the ball out of the park on that one.

Do you plan on using the bayonet separate from the gun? There is very little review info on this model.

It looks like a beast - I want to know how it will stand up to some hard use as a stand alone knife. I would like to see how it handles batoning and chopping.

How does it feel when it is fixed on the gun? I think I read that it weighs 1 1/2 pounds unsheathed. Does it affect your ability to effectively aim?

I really want to add one to my collection - I'm just trying to justify what I would use the thing for.:D

i'm sorry fellows but i believe bayonets are more hindrance than help. if it deteriotes to the point a sticker is needed i believe a club or entrenching tool will be more effective. remember once your blade is in a body your shooter is basically out of action. if you shoot the rifle empty it's better to grab a sidearm or a kukri. i realize the knife on the gun looks cool but a statistical study from the revoluntary war thru korea actually showed bayonets to have caused less than 1/100 of 1% of fatalities. bayonets make rapid employment of your rifle slower. i'm aware that the brits did one successful charge against afgans in recent history but i attribute that success to be to the courage & determination of the brits against an enemy that in all our stand up conflicts to be poor fighters against our marines & other well trained soldiers.

When i served as a royal guard in the Norwegian military, we were trained with bayonets and we always had the bayonet mounted on the gun when we were guarding the royal palace.
If you know what you are doing, and have the right bayonet, its super effective.
The reach and thrust you get with the bayonet is awesome.
I guess this goes the same way as the neverending axe vs. big knife discussions, if you know how to use an axe, its more effective in most cases.
The bayonets we used were lightweight, approx. 7" blade with 1/8 of an inch thick.

i believe a mounted bayonet installs awe on most civilians but hardened soldiers are not as intimidated.if it comes down to hand combat i would rather have a 4ft. spear. thanks for the input.---dennis

Hard to carry a 4 ft spear AND an M-4, or hold a carbine and swing a khukuri.... It also discourages people from attempting to grab at the barrel. They all have their uses.
Nice pics!
