I am very new to this sight. I don't know a lot about knives. Like I have know idea what stonewash, blackwash. Or anything like that. Can anyone tell me how they learned about all of this stuff

Read and use the search button. Try not to start threads with basic questions as they have likely been asked many many times before.

There are also sticky's at the top of the section is useful resources.

Welcome.

First, read everything in this forum page you can daily. Find all the pic heavy threads that deal with mainstream knives and brands (don't spend time on the specialty high dollar stuff right now).

Start noticing the style of knife you prefer. Begin with fixed blade vs. folders, the basic categories.

Spend some time at reputable and larger onlijne retailers like Blade HQ, Knifeworks, KnivesShipFree.com, etc. There are many others. Pull up the folders or fixed blades and just start surfing...most pages have that bottom crap that will show ten more knives you might want to look at. Look at all the pics you can; the reading will follow if you find something you like the looks of.

Final tip: Don't get hung up on blade length. The "biggest" aren't the best.

Eventually, God 'n Google willing you'll learn a lot. Don't think it's a weekend process though. :)

As you read and begin gravitating toward what YOU like the knowledge will be acquired. And you'll remember me like smokers remember the person who gave them their first cigarette. Godspeed.
