Okay, so i'm looking to buy a knife that could be used for camping/backpacking/survival purposes. Something that's fairly low priced (under $100. Weight isn't a concern, just durability and performance). I was looking into the Becker CAMPanion to do the heavy duty tasks (batoning/chopping), and the Mora COMPanion for the delicate work. What's your opinion on this? Any advice/recommendation would help. Sorry for the lack of knowledge, kind of new to this area.

Another thought lingered in the back of my head. Shouldn't I just get an axe/hatchet instead of the becker and still buy the mora. Does this seem more practical?

Buy the Becker BK2, also, search the forum before you post something that has been posted time and time again. Two other viable options are a Kabar or a SOG Field Pup. Don't listen to the guys that shout buy a custom.

Those are great choices. Mora and Becker are a great value and you can get quite a bit done with those two. I'd recommend the BK9 and Mora Bushcraft Black but the MoranBushcraft Force or Mora Craft line All round (711 or 746) are great choices too.

I'd go BK 9 and Mora combo too. The Campanion is a good knife but it cant chop like the 9 and it cant wittle/carve as well as the Mora. The Campanion is great if you only had one knife in your trunk and you got into unexpected trouble. It can get the job done but it isnt Great at it. You could also get a Mora (any flavor) and an Ontario Spec Plus Gen II SP50. That Ontario is one bad mutha!

What's the difference between the three?

Mora Bushcraft Black and Force are more or less the same knife in different steels. Black is carbon and Force is stainless. Same story with the 711 (carbon) and 746 (stainless). You can get a 711/746 for under $20 shipped and it is arguably one of the best values for a fixed blade. Very comfortable handle and very sharp, very useful blade design. The Bushcraft series has a thicker blade and somewhat larger handle.

Not going to hear anything different from me either. BK9 and Mora (my personal faves are the Companion/Clipper and Robust). Great combo.
