I have two spydercos and like them so much I want to purchase another. Thing is I don't know what all the steel codes mean. I was thinking of just getting the Native at Walmart with the VG-10 but I really like the yellow handle SALT/Pacific with H1 corosion resistent steel. Whats the difference between these two and the others listed on the knifes.

Any help choosing my next spyderco would be appreciated! WHat I am really looking for is the most bang for my buck!!!!!!!!
CPM S30V
CPM (T) 440V
AUS-8
AUS-6
ATS-55
AUS-10
S 30V
VG-10

Then my two current stainless spydercos I own are a GIN-1 (police model) and a AUS 30 Delica.

THe Native at Walmart has the S30V steel. I think it would be the most bang fot the buck. I pair $70 for the same knife and it is a good one.

I'll second the Walmart Native as best value for the $$. The Salt series is also very hard to beat if you need something to use in and around water or carry during sweaty activities/summer time.

Welsome to the forum. Great to have some new opinions and ideas.

Here is some steel info from our resident wizard, Joe Talmadge, that might help you. My only comment is don't get too involved with "steel" unless you are really doing lots of heavy work with your knife. Then you can get one designed for your profession. Other factors like blade/handle shape, lock, size, etc. are more important, IMHO.

Here is some good general steel info that I saved to my "favorites" folder for reference. Not only are the alloys of various elements disclosed but the use of the particular type of steel is also discussed.
