Greetings All, long time listener, first time poster. I've been hangin' out around here for long enough to feel like I kinda know some of the regulars. So, to avoid being that creepy guy at the party that hangs out in the corner and doesn't talk to any one, I thought I should chime in.

Anyway, I've made a couple of Kydex sheaths in the past, and decided that my new ESEE-3 would be a good candidate for another. Here is a few pics of the final product along with a MOLLE Back I made out of 1000D Cordura and Nylon Strap material. This is actually the first MOLLE back I've tried to make, not to purdy, but functional. I think I'll try a few more for some of my other knives.

Oh yea, just in case the pics don't post right, I'll go ahead and admit now to being computer illiterate, not sure if I have the folder setup right in Picasa web albums or not. And in fact, that I seem to have the ability to cause nearly all electronic equipment to fail with mere momentary contact.:o (Just kidding..... well sorta.)

Also, if anyone wants to know, I used a Dremel with a pointed rotary file for the handle on this one.

Steel,

Great first post. Nice work on the handle, sheath and back. Look forward to having you around.

God bless,

WTF. Firts post, ya making us look bad.lol:eek:

Welcome mate. Nice work i like it . Cant wait to see what you will make for a 4 & 6. Dont worry if you dont have them . You will.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome.

Actually I do already have the 6 (that was my first ESEE from back when they still said RC-6), but I like the factory sheath the way it came, and I already have the ESEE MOLLE back and pouch for it. Great combo, I don't think I'll be moddin' that one.

Welcome to the recovery center!

Outstanding work pal, looks damn good.

That's great.:) It looks like one of our early proto types on the 3/4 MOLLE back. Good job man ad welcome to the forum. Mike

Great work! That retaining strap in particular looks sweet.

Thanks again for the great feedback, I appreciate it.
I basically looked long and hard at the ESEE MOLLE back I have for my 6, and used that direction for the one I made.
The retention strap on the ESEE model is about the best I have seen. Unsnap it, and it swings out of the way. Keeps it from getting sliced off by the blade during draw/insertion.

Not bad at all!

One really nice thing about DIY is that you have the ability to tweak things EXACTLY the way you want/need them to be....and if your ideas turn out to be rubbish, you can always make another because you developed the skill while experimenting on the first go-round.

Props man!
