Greetings Suspects,

I am new to Emersons. I usually post @ Balisong Forum, but I bought a Mach1 and well.....you know the story.

Here are my question(s).

1) I bought a Mach 1 (rather than a waved model), because (as a lefty) I'm not sure how friendly the other models are to us southpaws. The Mach1 has that high arch combined with an unobstructed path for the the left thumb. In contrast, look at the right side of a CQC7; the right side has no cut out for the left thumb. If I bought a righthanded CQC7 Waved (I know the EKI web site lists left handed models available only through the shop, but no lefthanded waved models) how easy is it for a lefty to use ? Any fellow southpaws out there with experience with the CQC7 Wave ? How about the Commander ? (I thought the wave was just for college kids ?)

2) What are the grind angles on the Mach1, both single and compound ?
The reason that I ask this is that I want to be able to resharpen my Mach1 myself. I use Crox Sticks at 20 @ 24 degrees compound, and my Mach1 does NOT have a conventional grind.

Thanx

Not only will the wave work right or left handed, but a righty Commander carried in a left front pocket will pop open in reverse grip. Wicked! :p

As far as sharpening an Emerson v-grind, some guys are annoyed with the chisel grind secondary bevel. By putting this on a Sharpmaker or similar system, they create a true v-grind, thereby making everyone happy. :)

With 154-CM, this may take a while, unless you use diamond rods.

Thanks ! Well time to save up for another knife. For now, it does not look like this new Mach1 is gonna get dull any time soon.

Mark
