Need some advice from you experienced guys. I'm new to the Forum and collecting in general, just a normal subscriber (e.g., not a Gold member so I can't post items for sale). I have finally found my niche in some Sebenzas, so I want to sell off some of my early collected knives, all Benchmades, all NIB, never carried or used. What is the best way to do this? Local knife shop (take a big hit on price for possible trades)? eBay? Join as a Gold member and sell on the forum? How easy is that to do, etc.? Just want to know what your opinion is. Thanks in advance. I've learned a ton and been so entertained by reading this forum!

Your best bet would be to join as a gold member on here and sell your knives right here. I sold many knives on here and always did well. Open a paypal account if you dont have one already.

Most of the time selling them or trading at pawnshops or knifeshops you will get screwed.

Honestly I would go for the BFC subscription. Not only will you be able to sell your stuff to other knife nuts but you will be supporting the forum.

Selling on EBay or the forums is your best bet but you will likely take a pretty big hit selling them. You might do better trading for something you want and you don't have to pay to trade.

Buy a Gold Membership and sell them here. Yeah, it's $25, but you'll save that and more over selling them to a pawn shop or selling them on consignment at a knife shop. Ebay is another option, but again, considering the quality and value of knives you're selling, you'll lose more than $25 on auction fees, plus there's no guarantee short of high reserves (which cost more to list) that you'll get what you're hoping to sell them for.

That seems like the way to go, and I definitely want to support this site. Will do. Thanks for the advice!

kling,

Spring for the $25, you'll never regret it. The folks on here can be fantastic to deal with. Check the feedback forum, if you're dealing with someone with great feedback you're almost guaranteed a smooth transaction.

Selling here is great because the Paypal transactions are so fast, no waiting around for auctions to end, etc.

Price 'em fair and they'll move. Trades can be even better sometimes.

Best,

Heekma

Heekma, yep, that's what I'm going to do. Your reply gives me the confidence do this. Glad to hear that it can be a smooth transaction, particularly when dealing with good people.

BTW, I gotta say, this is fun!
