I'm new to Bucks and just got my first 110 yesterday at Wallymart. I have been looking at the different prices of 110's from sources such as Cabella's, Dick's, Bass Pro and the net. There is quite a spread. I paid $28 for mine.

My first question: Is there a difference in the 110's from Wallmart? The one I got was loose and had a nolon sheath.

Second: are all 110's BOS heat treated (even if the logo is not on the blade)?

Thanks

The basic difference is in the packaging and the type of sheath. The more expensive versions have a box and a leather sheath. All the heat treating is done by Paul Bos for the knives made in Post Falls which the 110 is.

Hi Spikedog,

Congratulations on acquiring your new first Buck 110!!! It's a great knife and second to none IMHO.

Your first question your Wally 110 is exactly the same as any other production 110. They are all made with the same materials at the same location. You should know that you can't have a 110 made in Buck's custom shop and you get to select from a variety of blade and handle materials.

Your second question....Yes the heat treatment that is currently performed on all of their knives has the BOS heat treatment.

Welcome to the Buck sickness forum. These things are addicting, so watch your wallet :D.

Congrats on the new 110, now you need a 112 .

All of the regular 110s' are the same BOS treated 420HC steel, such as the one you got from Wally World. The Cabela's 110 (Alaskan Guide) uses S30V steel and the Bass Pro 110 uses 154CPM steel, both of which are an upgrade to the 420HC, which is not to say that 420HC is not good, just that the other two steels are better.

If by 'loose', you are referring to the blade, then you may want to swap it for another 110 from WM, or you can always send it to Buck to be 'tuned up'.

Welcome to the Buck fraternity, Spikedog, from a Linux Mint user. ;)

Ill second the motion for getting a 112...Try a finger groove model . For a carry knife the 422-426 Bucklite are the bomb....and you can get a drop-point blade which is my favorite blade style. There truly IS a Buck for your every knife need.....

Thanks for the information. I will probably get a 112 also, maybe with finger grooves. I wish the Buck site re-activates the Custom Shop. Before the switch I was pricing out a couple of great-looking 110's. IMO these are a great value  Stag and great steel for around $130.

The Custom Shoppe 110s' are a great value indeed. I have 4 and plan on adding another 4 before the year is out.
