Hey guys, I'm fairly new to BF and want to say hello to all and comment on how great BF is for learning about my addiction to sharp things. I have a BK-2 and am thinking of removing the black coating, does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance!

Is there a particular reason why you want to remove it. It does protect the steel from corrosion.

while you want to be SURE you want to strip it, I have noticed alot of members as well as I use a normal paint remover, I think its called citri-strip its a orange gel base its one of the more "green" types of removers that should work. you could clean it up with 1500 and move up to higher grit wet-dry.
hope this helps.

Paint remover, I think I saw someone mention acetone, don't know if the two are the same thing. Also, try Dave's Insanity hot sauce. That stuff gets oil stains off garage floors.
