Guys,
I have recently been seriously drawn to fixed blade knives. Specifically, combat blades, used for war/etc.

Aside from Strider, Busse knives are the only other knives I've ever really liked the look of.
I went to the Busse website today, and could not find any info on their knives, other than that one Fusion knife (I think that was the name?).
What gives? Does Busse not list their complete line on their website?

Also, I would like to just come out and ask what type of company is Busse?
I mean, are they mostly considered Semi Customs?

More importantly, do you generally find most of their knives in stock at dealers, or would an order placed, be considered a custom order or what??? Are there dealers who have most of their knives in stock?
I guess I'm trying to figure out of Busse is similar to Strider, in that many models are available, but many are not (even man non custom Striders stay out of stock for months).. Could you compare the two companies as similar in this regard? (Please, no one get upset, as I'm not attempting to compare quality of the two knives!) We all know Busse is a quality company.
Finally, I've always wondered what the relation between Busse and Swamp Rat knives is?? (is there ANY relation???)
Please understand I am DYING to own a Busse Combat knife guys, and I would love to begin getting more and more into Busse knives. I just need to know what's the deal?
Granted, a purchase may be a long way off for me, but I can plan can't I???
Thanks for your help guys...

im not really an expert, but here goes. busse combat produces a knife or two which will be seen on bussecombat.com for several months. if you order one, it will be made to your specs and will take a few months to get. i have seen busses on a couple websites, but the best place to get an out of production model is the exchange forum or ebay.

next, the busse company store. they carry knives that are generally out of procuction. what you see on the order page is what they have in stock. but from time to time knives like the game warden, in various configurations will pop up at the store. you have to be quick to get these.

then there are the shows......and extravaganzas.......

i have never placed an order with the custom shop. perhaps someone else can provide info. i have found their customer service to be superb. the girls who handle the orders (hi amy!) are awesome. re strider, i have had good experiences with their customer service dept as well, but imho nothing compares to busse!

Busse is only offering one knife at this time. They are trying to offer a knife or two every month or two. Once the knife is gone from the website, it's gone for a long time. Except for the secondary market.

I would say they would be semi custom

Best place to find them would be to check the exchange here for older models and www.bussecompanystore.com (often) for past models available.

Not likely. Busse dealers are far and few between as far as I know.

Busse knives are more difficult to find/buy. Busse knives will increase steadily in value, even for standard production models. Custom models are $100 an inch last time I heard. They have some "custom shop" pieces, but it depends knife to knife as to if it's custom. Some will be ground by Jerry himself

Finally, I've always wondered what the relation between Busse and Swamp Rat knives is?? (is there ANY relation???)

Swamp rat knives is owned/operated by Jerry Busse's wife, Jennifer. Swamp Rat was designed to be a lesser priced company that still offered the same customer service/warranty. The steel is excellent, but not as good as INFI steel.

Start drinking. It'll help you follow along here. Seriously :D

I would be more thorough, but someone will just come along to correct me and I'm tired. lol :D

Ya'll forgot badmojo.
They have got a lot of information on past models listed there.
The site is not afiliated with Busse but it is kind of like an archives for Busse information. There are some errors but the pictures rock and it would take years of searching through threads on this forum to find what you can scroll to in seconds on badmojo. Also in a few of the descriptions you will find reproductions of letters Jerry Busse has written, reading the words he has written will help you to understand how he expects his product to be used and what he is trying to accomplish. Drinking will also help but it's not as objective.
I think the absolute best way to acquire one has been skipped also, GO TO A SHOW. I mean a show that Busse Combat has a table at of course. If there is anything left at the table when the doors open you will get a chance to buy knives otherwise unavailable or just plain hard to find, the trick is to not just find what you want but to find what you can trade for what you want. Dizzy yet?

NO REGRETS

Hey I got to tell ya, these knives are AWESOME. I just started getting serious about Busse knives and everything that you can want to know is right here. The guys who, are the BIG HOGS are on this site and they have been VERY helpful. Just click on the "production knives for sale" and look. You will be able to see all different models and configurations, usually for sale. But I have to warn you, if its a knife that is wanted (and every Busse knife is) it probably wont be there very long. If you are looking to buy one and a guy posts one up for sale, and its one that you want, model, condition etc. then post "I'll take it" you will be the first to be able to get the knife, unless someone beats you to it. I hope this helps you. Aaron

Hi Razorhunter. I'm not quite sure what particular styles of knives you are after (large choppers, smaller edc's, etc) but, one thing I can suggest would be to have a look around at badmojo.tv or in the "Nothing but Pics" thread. Take a look at the different models and if you see one you like, post in the WTB forum of the exchange. Might be easier that way to score what you are after because, depending on the model, you could be waiting a long time for a particular model to show up for sale.

Well guys,
I have been out of work for weeks, from a knee injury, and before that, I had a family crisis, and had to sell all my knives. Even my Bader grinder, along with all my knifemaking tools.
I don't even own an EDC anymore. My my most prized Strider SnG folder even had to go. Both parents lost their jobs, and I had to step in I suppose.
Also been out of work for weeks myself, with a knee injury. Finally, I had two soldiers that needed knives recently, so I spent the last of my $$, to buy one of them a knife, and a good buddy helped out with the other one a nice Strider fixed blade as well!
Life has sucked lately, but I'm keeping my head up, and hanging out on the knife forums is a love/hate relationship! LOL! I say this because it is so hard to see all the knives, any not being able to buy one, but it is SO hard to stay away from the forums, and NOT see the knives! Hehe.
Someone above mentioned on how to jump on a knife in the F/S forums. Thanks for the advice bro, I have been around on the forums for years, so I do know how to use the F/S area. I used to spend every waking hour, hitting my "Refresh" button, in hopes of scoring the next highly sought after piece that was posted! Hehe!
Anyhow, I was hoping to maybe ONE day, (after I'm able to afford another RG SnG (my favorite folder)), score me a nice, UNIQUE Busse AK-47 for myself.
Oh how I love this sword/knife. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what color options they have? I think I saw FOUR different color combinations on their website, but was wondering if any more were availabe, that I had not seen?
Anybody know?
Man I sure do HOPE the AK-47's are still around, when I get a way to purchase one. Does anyone have a guess as to how long they will be available??
I can see it now, with my luck, they will be long gone by the time I can swing one.
Too bad you can't finance knives! I've got a FICA score over 700!
Yeah, that's it! Finance knives! Heck, it can't hurt to just finance ONE little SnG and Busse AK-47 can it?
LOL guys! Thanks for all your help gentleman...!

BTW,
Good to see you here Bryan (KnifeAddict!) This is Paul Cataldo! You just sent the BN-SS down which my buddy helped out with, for my nephew in the USMC!
That BN-SS is now overseas, and serving our country well!
Have not got a chance to thank you yet, so THANK you for such fast acting!
I got it SUPER QUICK, and gave it to my nephew that very evening!
Hope all is well up there in AK my friend!!!!

Mark,
Man, that is seriously cool brother. Just the fact that you offered, means the world to me. It's just great comradery when all of us knife junkies get together, and offer to help each other out. However, I can't bring myself to allow you to do that. You having made the offer alone, does more for me, than you could know. Also, the fact that you would trust me with one of your knives, is just totally awesome. You don't find these kind of respectful deeds anymore these days, and I want to say my hat is off to you.
Simply put, Thanks BRO! However, I will pass on the offer for now. Granted, IF you still had that SnG lying around, you wouldn't know WHAT hit you, cuz THEN I would DEFINITELY be blowing your PM box wide open!
Oh well.
Hey, it's nice meeting you Mark, and I hope to see you on the forum bro.
Feel like I made a new friend....
