I just received my Special Edition BLADEFORUMS D2 Black T SIFU from 1SKS.

Kevin is a heckuva guy!

When I opened the box, the first words outta my mouth were identical to what my wife would always say...."that is huge!"

It is a big knife. Period. It'll take me a few days of carry to get used to it. I work in an office, so I'll have to see.

Fit and finish are above par.
The blade swings open with ease with no play.
It doesn't rattle. It locks up tight.
The Black T coating is smooth and impeccable.
The G10 has just the right amount of "roughness". Veddy veddy sharp!

If anything else comes up, I'll post it.

On another note, I have been doing some research here.
Is it "bad" to "inertia open" a knife?
Any advice/suggestions?

On inertia opening the Sifu, if you are doing what I think you are doing, holding the lock switch back and swinging the blade out, you are asking to have somebody call the cops, because it looks so like a gravity blade or a switchblade. You will have a very hard time explaining to the LEO how your knife is NOT one of these after s/he has heard the hoplophobe describe you opening it. You also are abusing the knife, according to Bob Brothers of REKAT, who says that you will eventually flat-spot the stop bar on the back of the knife where the blade hits when you open it that way. I also had trouble with mine hitting that stop bar and rebounding back. Fortunately, I didn't cut myself. On the whole, I would recommend doing that kind of opening only rarely, if at all, and in private.

Yes, I am doing that, except I am not pulling the lock back. I am just opening it.
I have done that with ALL my knives. I am just now understanding how bad that really is....roops!

try some white lightning on the pivot point, made a huge diff on mine - what # is yours? mine is 24/75, black blade,,,,,,

EXECUTION STYLE,

Congrats on getting the BF SE D2 Sifu! I love mine, SN#3! Keep it lubed with White Lightning or something, and you'll be ok. I'd also carry something smaller, like a Carnivore Cub with you as well to open in front of others at the office. It makes a great excuse to get another knife!

Congrats on your new knife. You should be very careful when handling this knife, for some darn reason it makes you want to buy several. (Got SE stone washed, SE carbon fiber and a limited red handled Sifu).

As far at the office folks, uhm..they might get a little nervious around such a big knife. Little hard to explain a Sifu off as a letter opener. I think you'll really like knife..keep us posted

I think inertial openings might be worse for a Sifu than for most other knives just because the blade is so heavy that there is a lot of force slamming onto the stop pin. I'm also assuming that a D2E blade will cause more damage to a stop pin than an ATS34 blade - any opinions on this? I've found with most of my knives that I can hit the thumb stud with just the right amount of force so that the blade will swing open and lock, but only hit the stop pin lightly. This is using much less force than a full speed slam opening, and I don't think it significantly affects the knife, at least it hasn't on any of mine so far.

YEAH JUST GOT MY D2 SIFU ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO...LOVE MY EMERSON KNIVES, ESPECIALLY MY COMMANDERS. BUT, SINCE I GOT MY REKAT SIFU IT IS NOW MY PRIMARY. USUALLY CARRY TWO GUNS AND AT LEAST TWO KNIVES (RULE OF TWO-FASTEST RELOAD IS A 2ND GUN AND/OR WEAPON).
ANYWAY, THE REKAT SIFU IS JUST PLAIN UNREAL!

i agree - SIFUI's RULE - but the thing about flipping them open being hard on them makes sense - it does have a heavy blade - i dont think i am gonna due that to mine anymore (not much anyway) - its due back day after tomorrw - FRIDAY - cant wait.....
