Constructive criticism please. CCW type knife, 1/2 edge on top. Debating on the handle material. May get blade parkerized.

Instead of getting the blade parkerized, you should have it bead blasted with ceramic beads. Looks alot like a parkerized finish, but lots tougher. Once you get the blade finished, I'd be more than happy to bead blast it for you, just cover the shipping both ways.
I like the way the thumb notch is forward of the finger groove. Thats a good basic design, but you might want to find out if daggers are legal in your area. If they are, you could still put the grind on the top, just don't sharpen it, make it a false edge.
I like your choice of steels too and think black canvas micarta would make a nice tactical looking handle. Maybe have the micarta sand blasted to for improved grip. Use 1/8-3/16" thick handle material and the knife will stay nice and thin for concealed carry.
Stay with it and post some pictures here to let us know how you're doing. Take care! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

I'm a relative newbie too but here's the feedback FWIW. The blade profile is great. I like it! I like the leading edge of the handle too as previously mentioned with the thumb rest ahead of the finger groove. It may be a matter of scale but the finger groove looks a bit small. Make sure it is big enough for a big - or maybe even gloved - finger. Lastly, most fighters I've seen have had some sort of contour at the rear end to prevent the knife slipping out of the grip. The one you show looks like - with a healthy dose of sweaty hands - might just squirt out like a watermelon seed.

Nice design overall. Keep us posted how it is progresssing.

Squirt out like a watermelon seed!! That's great Rob! I like it. It fits too. A para chord lanyard would fix that problem. But, you're right, it needs to flare or have a pronounced downturn at the heel to be an effective fighter design, IMHO. Hell, don't ask me, I'm a newbie too!

Mike, you're a good critic. You should become a knife design consultant in your area. You really know how to point out the good and bad without burning anybodies house down. You da man.

exsanguinate? (doesn't that mean to take out the guts?) You have a nice design there. I sure would like to see the finished product as Mike described it. Keep us in the loop when it's done.

here's my two cents. i would put some belly on the blade so you can slash and cut rope a little easier, enlarge the index notch, and as others have said go for more of a birds head type handle. keep at it.

Add about another 3/4 to an 1 1/2" to the handle length and this could help you with the balance and any chopping action.

your original design looks almost exactly like the CQB from Camillus.

TMY, I do like the looks of the CQB and was looking at that, along with my Tanto, SRK, Anza, SOG folder and BM Axis 710 when I started drawing the knife. If you note, handle is shorter (to facilitate CCW), the thumb rest is a bit more forward (to be more ergonomic with stabbing movements). After careful considerations to the valuable comments, I added a bit of a belly to the knife, enlarged the index finger notch and added a bird's head type handle.

MaxTheKnife, exsanguinate means: to loose blood. I have used that name for the past 1 1/2 yrs when playing quake 2 online. Eviscerate means: to have internal organs come out.
