Hi everyone,
This is my first post but I've been stalking this forum for awhile as I start to dip my toes into the water of making knives. I've done a little stock removal but I needed a forge to heat treat (not doing enough volume to send it off now, plus I wanted to learn). So I purchased the Goede g290 burner and put it into a forge that a friend welded up for me.
I've done the kaowool and Hellcote refractory but can't nail down the burner tuning thing. I've gotten it to work "alright" once or twice but other times it starts making a sputtering sound and flames are right at the "choke" holes/MIG tip. I've had the burner getting hot all the way up to the brass knuckle attached to the regulator hose. Not a comfortable feeling.
Question: will more air pressure from the regulator stop this? I'm probably in the 5-8psi range but it's a 30psi regulator. I just wanted some helps from the experts before I crank this up.
Thanks in advance. I wanted to attach a photo but don't see how. I don't have a pic hosting URL to use.
Take care.
