hi,
maybe i should introduce myself first:

1) I´m interested in outdoor/fieldcraft skills mainly because of the fun
2) my experience comes mainly from my military service, first as conscript back in 1980/81, then in the reserves (light infantry). On exercises and infantry compititions you also have to use "survival skills"
3) I also love assembling mini-kits, although I never really used them (that is, actually staying outdoors for a couple of days with only the kit)
4) the "outdoor" or "survival" way of thinking also helps you in everyday life, because the MINDSET of being able to improvise, plan ahead, practice and don´t panic is always useful in everyday life.
5) when I was younger, i played American football, but now I only do jogging and workout, pistol shooting, military shooting competitions with the bataillons shooting team (what am I doing in an blade-forum? :-)

Welcome aboard, Robert! It looks like you have found "the" place to be. We look forward to your participation!

You use what you have on you, then you improvise! :)
