Hello everyone, forgive me if there is a newcomer thread if I’m posting in wrong section. I couldn’t find one for introductions other than the thread reminding folks on how to treat new members.

I haven’t fall down the knife world rabbit hole yet, but certainly looking over the edge.

Was lurking for a while and decided to join to get more involved. Currently I carry a Buck 288 after retiring my 305 (whole story there for another thread).

Hopefully I can add something to the forum, but I will possibly have more questions than answers.

Welcome and good morning Danno. If you are here then chances are you have at least one foot in the rabbit hole. At the top of the General Knife Discussion board there is a short list of rule and tips so go have some fun Danno:thumbsup:

Welcome, from another Michigander. Questions are always good and eventually lead you to have a greater ability to have answers if you ask enough of them.

Some answers to you're pending questions and some other tidbits:
  1. Buy both, and figure out which is better for you.
  2. Try it, use it, sharpen it, try it again, use it some more. This is a good way to figure out steels.
  3. If you don't think one is enough, get 7 (stolen from a busse knife fanatic, they're... different).
  4. If you ask about knives for fighting in the prac tac you'll be told that knives aren't for fighting and to get a gun. 99% of the threads end up that way, I don't even go there anymore.
  5. For questions about a specific brand go to the brand's section and ask there. Usually you'll get the best knowledge about the brand. When comparing brands, general discussion.
  6. Lastly, enjoy. Most people here are light hearted and pleasant and it's a good online community with many events that bring members together outside of the pages. There's always a few dummies in any community and sometimes we get the privilege of being that dummy from time to time. Read the rules and follow them, basically don't be a dingus and you'll be fine. Mods here are pretty top notch and stay pretty active to keep things on topic better than most forums I've been on.

Cheers!

Welcome to the rabbit hole... Be careful looking over the edge. Its way too much fun down here. :D

Most places here will welcome newcomers. W&C is a little more insular...

Welcome and once you start hanging out here with all the enablers, you will fall into the knife black hole. It is a fun ride however if you like knives and enjoy them for what they are.

I guess the two biggest things to remember for regular members is don't ask values or prices and don't post links to non-forum affiliated web sites unless it is a manufacturer. It is a good bunch here overall.
