newbie handle questions

ok, questions i have. (its a couple)

1.) when do most of you cut the grips to shape?

2.) do you pin the handles on and THEN sand?

3.) how oversize should the hole that the pins will be put in be?

4.) whats a good source for pins.(i was thinking about nails maybe?)

5.) what does piening the pins do exactly, somehow it makes the pins hold better?

I would suggest going to the local library and getting a book or two on knife making.
Maybe buying Geno Dennings video that will answer many of your questions.
