I was hoping that someone here could help me. I looking to have a custom dagger made. Its a fantasy dagger and i was hoping that someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. Any websites or emails to people who do these kinds of blades would be greatly appericated.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Moved to the Custom forum.

A few questions before I chime in with suggestions as a dagger collector.

Any thoughts on the style and materials as well as a price range would help narrow down the suggestions?

Well as you can tell I am a new to collecting, so i might be asking for something that might not be able to be made. Well i have a drawning of what i would for it to look like. As far as what materials....Im thinking what ever looks best or would work best. For the price...im still not sure how much this would cost. So i was looking to find that out. That away I will know if I am just dreaming up something that will never happen. But give me some time and i will see if i can scan a picture of my drawning of the dagger.

Keith good call with that link. I know this guys work. I'm not into fantasy pieces, but he does some interesting pieces.

ManifestOne, welcome aboard. I know you're new to knives, I've been around a while and in my opinion the prices or this type of work is more than reasonable.

You could contact Steven Likata. I am not sure what kind of money you would be willing to pay, or if Steve would make a knife to your design. I think he likes having artistic control over the knives he makes.

Good suggestion. I couldn't think of anyone that makes fantasy designs off the top of my head. He does amazing work too!

Hi,

"Im thinking what ever looks best or would work best."

For what? For something to look at that is super cool, or to somehow use? Do you want it for a deep personal value, or to maybe make some money on it.

The cheapest way to make a cool fantasy knife would be to buy some assorted Pakistani knives, take them apart, and put them back together differently, kind of like "modding a computer". It would be kind of customish, but would only cost a hundred dollars or so for the whole deal.

Nice ones, CUSTOM Fantasy Knives like most of us see them, is a whole different ball of wax. They have to work, somewhat in one of the above four categories. Starting price for a U.S. maker is 90% above $1,000 US dollars. Makers could be Steve Licata, Steve Likarich(sp?), Gil Hibben, Rod Chappell, Bill Luckett or the grandaddy of them all, Virgil England.

Good Luck

Does Hibben even take orders these days? And good luck on getting a Virgil England.

I see Virgil at shows sometimes. If our friend is quite wealthy, he could obtain something from either of these gentlemen. I was simply mentioning some names representing a wide variety of costs for products under the "fantasy knife realm". Gil can be fairly reasonable price wise, but his fancy fantasy stuff is still around $5,000-to $10,000 dollars. Big range!!
