I have a black Kershaw shallot with what is I believe a dlc coating or something similar, I'm not sure what they used. Anyway, I scratched it pretty good and was wondering if there's any way to get my black back?

Nope. Not without spending WAY more than it's worth.
All coated blades scratch at some point.
Think of it this way, they add character and make it yours. Just keep using it and after a few more you won't even notice.

Also never forget.... Chicks dig scars.

My estimation is that the cheap Kershaws are simple painted black, it's not some kind of fancy coating. You could use a sharpie or some black spray paint. Tape off the edge and the handle and give it 2-3 coats, it's gonna be about as durable as the original. Just a suggestion though if you're really annoyed by the scratches. (I can only speak about the black blade on a Kershaw Fatback)

Yeah, once the finishing is marred
You probably might embrace the positive side
of being able to use your knife as a real tool.
And thus become far less cautious about scratching it.
But if you can't stand the sight of it now.
A temporary measure might help some...
Until you learn that there's no way to prevent
scratches on a using tool.

I think they use Titanium Nitride on the blades of older Leeks. It is not as durable as DLC, but still good. They advertize DLC on the new Leeks. It would be very hard, but not impossible, to scratch DLC. It would cost more than the knife to get the blade repaired. Just use it and love it for the memories each scar makes.

The black Shallots were DLC coated. If it's scratched, it's scratched. If you keep using it, as has been stated, there will eventually be more. No big deal.

Let each scratch make it your own and remember the things you were doing when you put them there. I used to want to keep my knives in perfect condition without a scratch on them. Once I gave up on that way of thinking and quit caring if they got scratched up I got a lot more use, fun and memories out of them.

When I got that first scratch on my 0450cf, I was mortified. However, after awhile I said screw it and just use it and to hell with the scratches.
