Newbie here buying a new knife, help!

Hi folks!

Newbie here looking to buy a Strider D9 but I've heard numerous complaints about Strider's QC(finish and fitting) issue...

So my question is, what should I look for when I get my new Strider?
What are the signs of a poorly manufactured Strider?

I also am looking at the Strider MV and CRK Warrior but financially that's biting off more than I can chew...

Anyway any tip would be appreciated!

Sharp edge and neatly wrapped cord handle? I don't have any experience with Strider's fixed blades but I believe most QC complaints have to do with their folders.

for $300 you should get a knife with a real handle...
