Hello,

During my research to learn about knifes and to pick a nice EDC knife, I found this forum. Glad to be here and already learning a lot.

And my first newbie question. I was at a local gun show today and there was a booth selling this Selectool (only one "t") Master Sharpener. It was $20 and saw several people buying them, but ended up passing. Tried some searches online and couldn't find any reviews. Kind of looks like a scam type device that won't actually sharpen your knife. Just wanted to see if anyone has heard of this product.

Otherwise, will just be spending my time reading and learning. Thanks.
 
Welcome to Bladeforums!!! You've come to the right place. If you want to learn about sharpening and sharpeners then click on the link below. There is a whole Sub-forum dedicated to such. $20 sounds like an inexpensive and most likely ineffective system. Just browse through the threads after clicking the link and I am sure you will find the answers to your questions. High end sharpening systems can run hundreds of dollars. You can get a good sharpening system doesn't have to set you back anything close to that. $20 sounds too good to be true.

As to a sharpening "system" for $20.00? Sounds like you have good instincts, a $7.00 EZE-Lap diamond stone from Walmart would probably be a better investment.
