Hello and hope this post from a newbie does not annoy the regulars. I live in TN and made it over to the Smoky Mountain Knife Works over the weekend and grabbed a catalog. I have a knife I've used since high school that has wooden handles that are cracking and it feels like it is about to fall apart, so I thought I would start looking for something to replace it. The SOG folding knives caught my eye so I started reading about them online and ran across this forum. Great forum by the way!! I decided from some of the threads on here to look for a Vision series (probably x-ray or mini x-ray) and tonight visited a Dick's Sporting Goods because somewhere I read they carried SOG (and it is close by). They didn't have a Vision series, but they did have the Twitch II which was another one that I liked. Anyway, this was the last one, with no price and no box, so they sold it to me for $30. I think I got a good deal and I love the feel of the knife and the opening action is incredible...did I say I was a newbie?!...and now I'm hooked and will probably go after the X-ray as originally planned. Any advice on care and feeding of these knives and other favorite knives would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Shadow Hunter, you are my neighbor.....:D Welcome to BladeForums....:D

Smoky is a great place to knife browse, especially since they got the new addition open and running.

What did you think of the new SOG counter/displays ?

You got a great deal on that Twitch II I think, they are lots of fun. You really need to handle one of those mini X-Rays though and you will be hooked for sure when you feel how smooth they open and close.

There really is no care to these knives, just break it in by opening and closing until your finger bleeds and it will be fine.........;) (just kidding, although I did mine)

Smokey Mt Knife works is a fun place to browse. You can't help but spend money if you go in there. I hear that they are going to have a knife museum there. Maybe it is already open?
