Hi all,
This is my first real AXE purchase ever and at a whopping $60 delivered the most expensive.

Here is what I found:
Sheath; I have read that the stainless snaps would hit the axe blade. In my sheath this is physically impossible as it has a thick leather insert for the blade to hit. The sheath also has a great texture and reminds me of my Wolverine 1000 Mile boots kinda leather. I expected horrible cheap hard leather but not the case here at all.

Grain on handle is not 100% with axe blade but its in general good.

The blade is incredible sharp already. I am debating whether I should even put some effort but since I have a AXE sharpening system similar to a wickededge for my AXE I guess some polishing of the blade at least.

Did I score a good Husqvarna Carpenter AXE or is this typical of what to expect?

Thanks,
bigC

The first thing I am doing today is getting it ready to use by:
Sanding with 220gritt sandpaper
3~5 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil
Obenauf's cream on my leather sheath
Put axe on my guided sharpening system to polish the edge since it seems incredibly sharp already

Looks like you got a great axe! The grain looks great to me. Huskies are such great value for the money. The edge looks like it could be pretty obtuse. I would want to thin it out so that it bites into the wood cleanly. On most of mine I will thin out the left side more than the right(flatter, like a hewing axe) since that is that the striking surface when I am carving.

I've been considering one of these, I have the small forest axe and also the older multi-purpose, and love them both. I actually went back and forth between the husqvarna carpenter and the condor woodworker, and ended up with the woodworker only because I wanted to take a look at condor. Now I want one of these too. Looks good, I think they make a great product, axes and otherwise.
