Hey BF,

Ordered my first axe "Cold Steel Pipe Hawk" and IMO it's REALLY, REALLY ugly! Looking to do my first MOD ever. I had a few questions and if the questions seem remedial, please excuse me for I am in the learning process.

1. Once the axe is ready to be put back on the haft, do I need to replace the screw? If not, how can I make sure that the axe head doesn't go flying up or down the handle?

2. Can't seem to find the paint remover "STRIPPER" anywhere, will the brand ZIP-STRIP Paint and finish remover work as well on the axe head?

3. I've seen a lot of methods to get a "Patina" finish (Vinegar boil, horse radish, mustard). Which method is the BEST way?

I've searched this forum for answers to my questions but couldn't find any.

As always, your replies and opinions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Aaron
