Newbie need grain structure advice

im new to bladesmithing and I just quenched my 15th blade, this is a break off of an extra peice of 5160 spring steal that my clever is made of. How does the grain structure look?

haha, ive tried three times now and for some reason it won't upload, any suggestions on how to get the pic uploaded from a MacBook or iPhone?

Do a search with the Custom Search engine on "how to post a photo". As a registered user, you will have to use a hosting site.
Fine grain looks like broken cement or like a broken ceramic tile. Some say it looks like fine sand. Coarse grain looks like broke concrete or coarse sand. A search will also find you lots of photos of grain.

Best way I've found to determine if grain size is good, take a file and break it. Then compare the broke blade to the broke file. A file usually has very fine/small grain size and that's what you're looking for. Heck, even a broken drill bit should give an indication.

I've found that flickr.com is the easiest for me to host pictures and post them.

A file is a better reference, as it is a steel similar to a knife blade.
