Hello brothers,

Iam set to acquire 3 knives for survival and edc.. (since money is tight.. I can only acquire 1 knife per year.)

Civilians like me are prohibited to carry knives except for those who is required to have one due to their profession or occupation . eg.. butcher, LEO, etc.

Kabar bk2.. for my main bug out bag.. laws dont apply during SHTF.. very tough..

Coldsteel gi tanto.. back up survival knife.. my main combat blade... I like the hand guard.. tanto point..

Kabar bk14.. my target edc knife... discovered a unique way to outsmart authorities. . :-D I choose this knife because of its strength. . SHTF may come unexpectedly while im away home.. maybe at work.. having a fixed blade knife would be beneficial.. for everday cutting needs.. I always carry a legal option.. that is my industrial cutter and cheap multi tool..

My first this year is a kabar bk2..

Brothers any comments and inputs about my choices?

Thank you.

Kabar bk2..

The bk2 is great choice but I prefer the bk10, same size but lighter weight, also because it's thinner it's better at fine work such as carving and skinning. If your worried about strength, the only way your be able to break a bk10 is if you try, even then it will difficult, then one thing the bk2 does better then the 10 is chopping, but the 10 is no lightweight in this area either, but I recommend getting a larger knife or axe for chopping anyways.

Not sure how I feel about your choice of the GI Tanto. I have one, and it has a certain cool factor about it, but I think it'd need some modification to make it suitable for any task I can think of. It's a great value, sure, but I would suggest that you consider the Buck Nighthawk or Gerber Prodigy. Yes, either will cost you double the GI Tanto's price, but those are two relatively affordable, high quality knives that are worth the higher price for the improved handle comfort alone.
