I'm new to khukuri, having been introduced to them by my b-i-l Don Nelson about two months ago. Since them I have been perusing this forum closely - a lot of interesting and practical advice. I haven't had much to contribute so have been quietly reading, but did want to pass along a compliment to the participants of this forum. I am used to the often juvenile and petty dialogue in gun forums, so the atmosphere here has been very refreshing. There seems to be a genuine interest in passing along opinions and knowledge with a lack of the one-upmanship that I've been subjected to elsewhere (I am sure Bill Martino as a good example helps).
I've had the good fortune to be able to examine Don's dozen or so khukuri and have the benefit of his opinions, and after studying the good advice on this forum I obtained a Kumar 16.5 inch WWII for yard duties, a 20 inch Kumar Sirapati for fun, and am now anxiously awaiting a 21 inch Bura GS (compliments of a blem sale). I am afraid khukuri may be habit forming! Regards Wes Hoenshell

Welcome to the cantina! Looks like you have a good start on the family. If I ever go through Redlands again, I won't have to wonder where all the trees went - they've been frightened away!

:p :D

Welcome Wes.

Uh, you already have THREE khuks and you only think that you may have HIKV?

ahh. Good to know.

Let an old retarded Marine welcome you to the forum, Cantina or what have you. When Yvsa welcomes you he will call it something else.

I have a WWII 16.5" by Kumar. I gave my grandson the 18". The shorter one does everything I want it to do and is a bit easier for this old man to handle almost all day.

You have made some pretty good choices for your first three Khuks. Again welcome and hope you continue to enjoy this forum as much as the rest of us. :) :)

Well not to disappoint Pappy, Welcome to the Psycho Ward Wes!!!!!!!:D

It's a small world. I used to live in Yucaipa just across I-10 from Redlands.:D

You're right that we have a good example to set the tone.
The bad actors don't last long here.....too boring.

Unfortunately, rude & snobbish behavior is found
in many blade & sword forums too.

We're lucky here to be free of that trend.

Welcome.

(Haven't seen Don for a while, hope he's OK.)

Welcome aboard! I just picked up my third also. It doesn't take too long before you find yourself trying to find justification for another khuk. Of course, having that wild old man in Reno tempting you with deals doesn't help much LOL. I don't even know why I bought the last one, 25" Kobra, but I've had fun just looking at it already.

Semper Fi Pappy, what unit were you in? I was in I 3/8 down in Camp Lejeune.

Welcome to the cantina, Wes. This is the only forum that I've stuck with this long...and intend to stick with for a long time to come. The reason is the people here are great. They are patient and more than willing to help. Not to mention the khuks are a great product and you couldn't be doing business with anyone better than Uncle Bill if you tried. Enjoy.

Yvsa, it's funny...I live down the street from I-10 and use it every day to go to work. You made the world smaller just by mentioning it.

Wonder why that is. Certainly Bill's example helps. I think a lot of it happens to do with the khuk magic negating the "bad actors". It's hard to say that one khuk is better than another without lining them up and feeling them in your hand. I think we all realize that the best khuk is the one that magically finds you.

Welcome Wes, sounds like you put some good thought into picking out your khuks, winners every one of them. Don't forget to get yourself a Bilton, dandy little khuks, well made, very useful, and their price makes 'em one of the best bargains you're ever liable to find.
