hello all I am new here and live in Canada. I have loved knives since I was a kid and now they are anything from a tool to art to me. My son was a skiing between my garage and the neighbours and found this in the dirt and gravel. It looks to have been there for a long time. Any idea if it is a thing to behold or just a home made piece. I haven’t cleaned it in case it turns out to be something significant.

Looks like a slasher of some sort
Don't suppose there are any markings of any sort??
Seems like a south east asian agricultural worktool; as in thai or burmese.
But i m no expert.
Just my 3 cents :-)

Maybe some more info? Any makers mark or anything different about it? From the picture it looks almost like a brokeback saex with a broken handle.

No marking on it. Handle may have a slight taper so maybe this was a spear? I am going to soak it and clean it to see if there are any id marks.

That handle is shrink-wrapped, and it’s sporting a partial a stick tang... looks like a home-made job, maybe a reshaped lawnmower blade or cheap machete that lost its handle and someone tried to make a new one (perhaps a longer one than the original)

I wouldn’t say it’s worth your time to try to save, unless you’re starving for a project.

Edit: is that aluminum foil coming out of the interior of the handle? Did someone use insulating tape and foam to fix it? That’d be my guess.
