Newbie question about jungle hammocks

I read an older thread about jungle hammocks, and the idea seems to make a lot of sense to me. Each maker's products that I've looked at online claim to be the best. Could I get some feedback from people that have actually used them, in terms of which make/model they would recommend?
Comfort (as in not sagging and bending me in two, and being as cool as possible)is my primary concern, along with light weight and durability ( often mutually exclusive characteristics).
I tried a jungle hammock a few years ago, a $99 POS from the local surplus store that nearly cooked me to death in the Florida heat. When my 250 pound ass was inside, the sides stretched up around me to the point that I was encased in urethane coated nylon and the netting was way above me. I about had a heat stroke withn a couple of hours.
Does anyone make one that stays realitively "open" and has lot's of mesh? Something that really would be serviceable in a hot climate?
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I appreciate any feedback that ya'll might give. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, guys. Clark hammocks says that they are significantly better than "the other guys" on their website. I'm assuming that they mean Hennessy, but of course they don't mention them by name. Anybody have experience with both? Thanks!

Try the one carried by Brigade Quartermasters. It's called the "Twin Layer Tropical Hammock". Item #TLT98. It costs $36.99. In my opinion it's the best out there. It's super lightweight, double layer poly/ cotton blend fabric, It's olive drab, made in England, and it's the brand survival expert Ray Mears uses. It rolls up in a small stuff sack to about 8" long by 4" wide. It will hold your weight and since it's fabric, not mesh, you can roll over in it and it's very comfortable. You can even put a sleeping pad between the layers of fabric for a more rigid bed.

Place Knives,
Thanks for the link. I took a look at it - BQ's website doesn't show a picture of it. Does it have mesh sides and a roof? Thanks!.

Nope, it's just a hammock. It's a good idea with this type of hammock to bring a 6'X8' tarp, or a Waterproof British Basha that Brigade also sells.

Place Knives,
If I did that here in Florida, I'd need a transfusion by morning from all the damn mosquitos! They're like swarms of little vampires.

Brigade also sells a mosquito bar made by the same company to use with the hammock. String a line over your hammock and drape the mosquito bar over it, and voila!

I'm from Florida, (originally) those mosquitos are something else. Deet, lots and lots of deet.

I don't know how it stacks up against a Hennessy, but I like it.
I have used it in the cold/hot/dry/wet environment of Louisiana.
I don't usually sleep well away from my bed at home, but I must say I slept pretty well in the Clark.

It is extremely well made, and is a relatively compact package.

I am pleased.

I am planning to take an extended trip to the Amazon sometime (hopefully next fall). I have read raves about both the Hennesy and the Clark. Does anyone here have experience with both so that they could provide a comparison?

I was in Costa Rica last year, bought a hammock from a lady that looked like she was making hammocks her entire long life, best damn thing i ever bought. I believe it is a Hemp blend of some sort, but it is not used as traditionally thought of. You lie across the hammock perpendicular to the ends, instead of in line with each end. It is incredibly comfortable, the individual lines are about 3/4 of an inch thick, it is HUGE, will take several people easily. and it rolls into the size of a small sleeping bag. damn nice hammock.

My Hennessy Hammock is PHENOMENAL!

I used it hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and it was great - even when I did a halfassed job of slinging it one night. Very comfortable and performs just as advertised! Get one. YOu won't regret it!
