Newbie question: Charging 18650 Lithium battery

Just got a 18650 charger for my Klarus Xt2C
I read that you shouldn't let it drop below 3 volts or so.

Would a voltmeter be the best way check after a lot of use or should I wait for the torch to start dimming or something like that?

Sorry, very new to flashlights.
