What does the phrase "Old New Stock" mean? I've seen this in some various For Sale ads around the interwebs.

Thanks.

It's usually an older or discontinued model but still new in the box...often has sat a while on a dealer shelves...sometimes a good deal.

AKA "New Old Stock" or "NOS"
Comes in various flavors; knives, automotive parts, firearms parts and accessories, etc. that you do not need or want are the most commonly found.

I have never seen "Old New Stock". I have seen "New Old Stock". Basically means it's still new-in-box merchandise that has been sitting around unsold for years.

With respect to a knife (for example), if anyone has any US-made Schrade knives that are still in their original, unopened factory boxes that were never sold, those would be "New Old Stock" since they were manufactured at least 11 years ago.

It is to differentiate them from "Like New in Box" or even "New in Box." Technically "New Old Stock" has never been sold by the retailer to a customer, whereas "New In Box" may be in the exact same condition, but a retail purchaser actually bought it.

Or in other words, "really old product but you'll be the first owner of it".
