Newbie question on 34OT

I was making a run into another part of town, and stopped by an old KMart store, just to see what they had.

I found about 10 34OTs in the plastic packaging. $14 per (reduced from 21.99). Made in the USA on the package. On the back of the packaging at bottom Imperial Schrade Corp. Product Made in the USA. Card printed in China. I got one, and wanted to ask you guys if this is a legit USA Schrade or not.

And what year did they switch over to the plastic? Should I avoid this knife packaged this way (or maybe go back and grab a few more, because they are new in package)?

Sounds like a dumb newbie question, but I had to ask.

There was an XT/SP3 camper pack there too, but I passed. That one looked to be made in Ireland, I think.

Thanks guys. It's really fun and all about the thrill of the hunt. Later in the month I'll check out my first gun/knife show...lol.

Thanks Codger! Makes me sorta want to swing back sometime in the near future and buy a few more to give to my two sons for their Schrade collection as well.

The small size and frame shaped to fit the hand make them great carry knives too. Keep that in mind when you are buying. Two for the collections, and two to grow attached to by using. A man (or boy) can never have too many good knives. By the way, those particular knives are likely to have stainless blades, not 1095 carbon steel like the early seventies ad I showed.

This is a good knife for a young boy. I gave one to my grandson for his tenth birthday, and he loves it!
