Just a quick question about the typical factory edge on a new knife from a manufacturer like Spyderco or Benchmade:
Do they generally come with a double bevel? My Spyderco Native got dull enough that it was having problems with paper, so I took it to my new sharpmaker at 30 degrees. Using the magic marker, this was clearly what the big (or perhaps only) bevel on the Native was set at. I made my burr on one side, then made it on the other side, then removed it before polishing up on the fine stones.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't hit the 40 degree slots and add a less acute edge bevel, and whether or not I actually removed a similar tiny bevel on my first sharpening attempt.
Thanks in advance for anyone with any insight
