This hopefully falls under the "we were all there once" category: Is it OK to store, long-term, your Sebenzas/Mnandis in the CRK-supplied leather sheaths? I've never thought about it because why would they given you a sheath if they didn't intend you to use it, but then you see threads saying not to store a knife in its leather sheath (although those seem to be addressing cheaper sheaths and carbon steel blades). FWIW, I had an Umfaan sitting in its sheath for about 15 years with no ill effects, so I guess that answers the questionempirically, but I thought I'd ask. No problem taking them out to store, but more convenient not to, and they are in a dry place.

Many thanks.

I do not store any of my knives in a leather slip. I do carry my CRK’s in the leather slip and at the end of the day pull it out to let it breathe. Don’t know if makes a difference, but it’s what I do.
Long term, I’d be leery of the natural oils in the leather leeching out and ruining a wood inlay or discolor micarta. A plain or UG/CCG not so much

I have never felt storing knives in leather sheaths CRK or otherwise is a great idea. If dry and properly oiled, likely no problem. If there is a problem it can be major by the time you notice.

I'll triple that- don't do it. Leather holds moisture you don't want mixed with whatever tanning chemicals remain in the sheath in contact with or surrounding the knife over long periods of time.

If you live in a desert climate with typical relative humidity less than 20% (pre-air conditioned) then maybe its less of a concern, but you better be certain the leather is clean and void of salts, oils, chemicals, etc.
