I just took apart my "new to me" lg Seb and I saw these marking inside. What do they mean? Since my Seb was born in 2006 I'm guessing the 06 means that but I'm not sure. No idea about the "S" marking . . .

Thanks!

Blade stamp letter is blade steel type.
S= S30V
V= S35V

Scales stamp is the date code for when your scales were machined which will always be prior to the date of birth on your birthcard.
A= 1st quarter Jan-March
B= 2nd quarter April-June
C= 3rd quarter July-Sep
D= 4th quarter Oct-Dec
The # designates the year.

Take note that the stamp on the scales is when the scales were made and not necessarily the completion of the knife. The knife can be finished as much as 3 quarters later and in a lot of cases there will be be a discrepancy between the stamp and the date on the birth card.

Good point Corskin! I've seen them up to 2-3 years difference from the birthcard on more unique pieces. Also the scale stamps don't always match which is also ok.

As long as the birthcard doesn't predate the scales, you're fine.
