Hi!

Please point me to a link if this has been discussed before . . .

Just got a new 940 and the action is very stiff. Lubed it sparingly with TSI 321 (fishing reel and firearms CLP) and have been working the action for two days now.

It's definitely getting easier to open and close, but is still stiff. Is it advisable to loosen the pivot bolt a bit, or should I just continue to work the knife as is?

Many thanks in advance,

Kirk

Almost every Benchmade I've owned has needed a two week break-in period, after which they've been lovely. Stick with it and don't stress about the action. :)

Just keep working the action and break it in naturally. It will get smooth in time. Loosening the pivot can introduce other issues like blade play. If it doesn't break in after a few weeks then look at additional actions.

I don't hesitate to adjust the pivot screw if needed. Just do it carefully in very small increments watching the blade position and ensure you have loctite handy.

An eight of a turn made all the difference. Still need to work the knife to get everything seated smoothly.

Thanks all for the solid advice and cautions.
