Yep it’s been asked before, but no biggie. Go to the paint department and find a paint stripper. Soak the knife and wrap it in foil or heavy plastic (opinions vary on this, plastic has worked fine when I’ve used it) to keep the stripper from evaporating. It may take a couple coats, but the coating will bubble right up and will wipe right off.

Use a stripper like this one from Home Depot.

Here is what I did to mine.
Just used some gel paint stripper from the hardware store, then sanded on it a bit, then blued it.

First, your newbie, yet your RP# is lower then mine? WTF :D

Second why iz ya taking the coating off? It does serve a purpose.....

Just about any autoparts place will carry aircraft remover. It will eat any painted coating clean quickly. Just wear a mask when messing with it.
Personally I'd keep the coating.
