Hey guys! I am new and just made this account because I wanted to know about this knife's history.

My partner and I went to a antique shop, I got some stuff for my little alter, he found a really cool knife to add to it. We brought it home and I looked over it and saw it had a proof symbol that I believe is Voos? It's made in Solingen Germany. It has an antler hilt, and the blade itself is pretty smooth.

I just wanna know more about the maker, or how old the knife may be, as well as what kind of knife it is. Almost looks like an old hunting knife. Sharp as hell too, cuts through paper like butter.

Thank y'all for the input in advance, I have added photos below!

Hand clutching arrows was the trademark of Precise International Co (PIC) of Suffern, Ny. They were a big post WWII importer of sporting goods. Their big brands were Wenger Swiss Army Knives, Gamo air guns, and Schlieper (Eye Brand) knives.

Your knife was subcontracted to either Voos, Linder, or Schlieper most likely. They were all German firms that PIC used.

Your knife was also rehandled in antler at some point. They original would've been back plastic. It would've originally looked sorta like a Hitler Youth knife, which in turn was inspired by earlier scouting knives.

Whoa, so this thing could date back to WWII?

Also hey I guess right about the antler hilt being fitted onto it.

Thank you for your time answering my question!!

Wait hold on... I just looked up Hitler Youth Knives and they do look a like. So not only is this a knife that dates back to WWII possibly, but also was owned by someone at some point who was part of that group. Wack.

Post WWII. PIC started around 1954 or so.

It's not a Hitler Youth knife, but is based on it.

Pre WWII, a pattern of outdoor / scout knife was made in europe that looks like this -

.

WWII, The German's need a knife for the Hitler Youth, so they change the above pattern into these -

.

Post WWII, the Nazis are defeated, but they still have the tooling, etc.... for that style of knife, so why let it go to waste? So they rework them into a regular outdoor knife again, which would usually look something like this -

.

That is pretty close to what your knife looked like originally.

Thank you for looking into this! Though I think is actually is a Hitler Youth knife, did some reading and found they ended up giving out basic ones without the motto on it and some even had basic plastic, kinda like in boy scouts of today lol. Also it's been hand sharpened which matches what the boys in that Youth group had to do with the basic blades.

Plus my knife has the same leather piece above the guard as the Nazi Youth one does. The guard I found was broken and someone cleaned it up, you can see where it has been worn down.

Its been hand sharpened and has a piece of leather on it, just like many thousands of older knives out there made in the past 60 years....Think what you want but that doesn't make it so.....the markings (in English) say it was made for export to the west post WW2.....

Sigh. NO! It isn't a HY knife. It was made after WW2 as an import.

It has American brand logo and words on knife & sheath are in English.

Aside from your hopes and dreams, the Germans used German language on their own stuff.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, I wanted to make sure it wasn't a Hitler's Youth Knife, I was gunna toss it if it was.

That's why I was asking if the little leather piece that matched their blades was an indication.

I'm new to knives, so idk. But if it's made after then great, I am going to keep it.

Remember how I said I had an alter goin? I don't want a Nazi knife resting on that, knowing it's made after makes it okay though.
