Hello all,

I'm on the verge of buying my first Sebenza. I've been carrying a Benchmade 705 for the last few years. I've decided I want to "upgrade", so a small Sebenza seems like the way to go :cool:

I do have a few questions;

1. Is the thumbstud removable by the user? (I have an EdgePro and thumbstuds generally need to be removed while sharpening or they get in the way.)

2. If it can be removed, what tool will I need to do it?

3. If all else fails, does CRK offer a sharpening service? What about blade replacement if I hose it up ;)

Thanks!

Classified00. . .

1. Is the thumbstud removable by the user? Nothing is impossible. But you'll damage it if you attempt to remove it.

3. If all else fails, does CRK offer a sharpening service? What about blade replacement if I hose it up? CRK will resharpen it. The only cost is paying for shipping both ways. I'm sure that CRK will replace a blade; for a price.

Sounds like you worse than me, on blades, when it comes to resharpening ! ;) :D

My EDC has been a BM705 (or Forum Knife 705) for about two years now. I have just heard too many great things about the small Sebenza not to give one a try in the EDC role. My small regular is on order as we speak, and it will replace the 705 in my pocket as EDC - at least initially, when it arrives.:) I love the 705 - especially for the price, but the Sebenza appears as if it may be the best small folder bar none.

Guys,

Thanks for the info!

GigOne,

The EdgePro does a great job but I have found that thumbstuds usually get in the way of the arm. I simply remove them from my BMs when sharpening then replace them when I'm through. It's possible to sharpen back to the choil even with the studs on but it requires a little more finesse (so it's easier to hose up) :p

Interesting thread. I have a BM 705 on order as a backup to my small classic sebenza. The durability of a sebenza can't be beat. I just recently picked up a large classic to complete my "zulu trio".
