Hey Guys, nice forum, glad to be here!

I'm a "newbie" as far as knives go, but am an avid shooter and sportsman, but I'm finding this knife and tool thing addictive :)

In reading through the forums, I see a lot of acronyms that I don't recognize, could someone define them for me?

LEO?

EDC?

Any others I'm likely to see that aren't intuitive? From the context I think EDC is something like a primary carry weapon, and LEO sounds like either a good guy or a bad guy :)

Anyway, I'm looking to buy my first defensive carry knife, and am looking at the Emerson Commander as the probable choice. I'm open to suggestion on others as well, but I like the wave opening feature, the emerson kydex sheath, and the quality and look/feel of the ones I've held so far...

Thanks guys!

Oh, and welcome to the Forums! :)

Kinzli,

welcome, I just joined up a couple weeks in a similar position, big on guns, just gettin' into knives.

While not a criticism i'm a little surprised you didn't know LEO, it's an acronym swopped around the gun boards alot (especially when speaking of Service Automatics).

Ah well, once again welcome.

Thanks guys for the answers!

YoungCutter, you're right, I shoulda known that one but it didn't jump out at me. :)

Anyone have a suggestion on what a good carry tactical knife for a female are? my wife is interested in getting to know knives as well...

She might like a Spydie Civilian/Matriarch

A couple that collects knives together...
Is a couple that goes broke together.
