Hi there, I wonder if someone could help me out? I have a few knifes and axes and have no problem sharpening them to the point of shaving sharp with my fallkniven dc3 sharpening stone. My problem is I have a Leatherman Surge and try as I might I can not get it shaving sharp. It's almost like the blade to too hard and the sharpening stone isn't biting into the metal. Does anyone have ant tips on sharpening a blade like this? Thanks

The Leatherman's stainless blade is HRC59 so should not be too hard to sharpen... I find that my Wenger Super Sharp (hand held diamond steel) plus my conventional steel puts a great edge on just about everything save for my flat ground Moras which can be sharpened conventionally but I like the Scandia grind.

The Wengers carbide blades are set to 25 degrees.

Getting a knife shaving sharp can come at the expense of edge longevity... if a knife will slide through A10 copy paper like butter with no dragging or tearing I find that to be more than sufficient and the edges hold for a very long time.

Try she sharpie marker trick to be sure you're sharpening the edge of the knife, and not just the shoulder of the bevel

The angle on my charge TTi was very obtuse, maybe you're hitting the shoulder of the bevel?
